Zagora Desert Tour (2 Days)

⏱ 2 days / 1 night📍 Pick-up in Marrakech

Zagora is the closest desert to Marrakech: in two days you cross the High Atlas, visit the UNESCO kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, descend into the Draa valley with its palm groves and reach the Zagora dunes for a sunset camel ride and a night in a Berber camp, with dinner, music around the fire and breakfast at dawn.

Be honest with yourself about expectations: the Zagora dunes are smaller than Merzouga's, but the journey is half as long. If you only have 2 days this is the right choice; with 3 days, look at the Merzouga tour instead. Available shared (from €80) or private with a dedicated vehicle and driver.

At a glance

  • Night in a Berber tent in the desert
  • Sunset and sunrise camel rides
  • Ait Ben Haddou and the Draa valley
  • Camp dinner and breakfast included

What's included

  • Minivan/4x4 transfer with driver
  • 1 night in a Berber desert camp
  • Dinner and breakfast
  • Camel ride at sunset and sunrise
  • Stops at Ait Ben Haddou and in the Draa valley

Good to know

  • The Zagora dunes are low and rocky, not the picture-postcard Sahara: the trade-off is a much shorter journey.
  • Long drive on day one (about 6-7 hours with stops): bring water and something to read.
  • In standard tents the bathroom is shared; the luxury version has a private tent with bathroom.

Frequently asked questions

How much is the 2-day Zagora tour?

The shared tour starts from €80 per person (standard camp). The private or luxury camp version starts from €150-250 per person. Exact price on WhatsApp based on date and formula.

Zagora or Merzouga: which to choose?

Zagora is half the distance and fits in 2 days, but the dunes are small. Merzouga (3 days) has the high Erg Chebbi dunes: if you have time, we recommend Merzouga.

What should I pack for the Zagora tour?

A small backpack with what you need for one night, sunscreen, a scarf and a jacket: desert nights are cold even in spring.
